5-year-old is super strong...but is he healthy?

On of the topics of today's chat with Kathie Lee and Hoda was 5-year-old weight-lifter Guiliano Stroe, who is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest 10-meter handstand walk with a weight ball between his legs....

Guiliano has become a YouTube sensation, with hundreds of thousand of people watching video of his feats of strength..

But he's also become the center of a controversy as many ask whether or not it's healthy for a child to be working out -- specifically lifting weights -- at this young age. (He's been training since the age of 2, according to the UK Daily Mail).

What do you think? Were his parents wrong to allow this or are they just supporting their child's natural interests?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've seen a lot of comments stating that he's going to have stiffened bones and stunted growth, but I've also seen a few comments from people who deny these claims. I'm more concerned at this point with the boy's mental state. Does he truly enjoy what he's doing (as he appears to)? Is he being forced to do this, or did he just start out by imitating his father?

As for the physical aspect, I think the main problem is just injuries and the like. I don't think it's very wise to have your five year-old doing backflips off the kitchen table. Then there's the fact that some of the weights he does his dumbell curls with look might heavy. As long as he isn't getting strained muscles and broken bones, I think I'd just say to watch him carefully.

I think that whether or not it's the healthiest thing there is, this little boy demonstrates that today's kids do NOT have to be obese or out of shape and well, fat. If most kids did half of what little Guiliano does, they'ed be fit and trim and a lot healthier than they are.

I know doctors advise kid to get plenty of exercise, but this guy goes overboard a bit, I think! As to whether or not it's healthy for him? I certainly hope so.
