Truth or hot air? Do you believe the Heene family really thought their 6-year-old, Falcon, was trapped inside their runaway helium balloon?

Falcon Heene, 6, was found in his family’s attic hours after the world watched a homemade balloon, believed to be carrying the boy, crashed to the ground. It seemed like a fairy-tale ending to a wild tale. But questions arose about what really happened after Thursday's "Larry King Live" when Falcon, upon being asked why he didn't come out of the attic earlier, said, "We did it for a show."

No doubt they were lying. If I were the father I would have been really curious about that statement.. unless I already knew what he meant.

If it were a stunt, how do they gain? The publicity right now is neutral - but would immediately shift to negative if it were a stunt.

Sounds like more publicity stunts from a couple of attention-hungry parents. Hopefully, they'll pass on the cost of the rescue efforts, military involvement, search posses, (and a few thousand for disrupting passengers at DIA), and THAT should shut them up for awhile.

It is evident that these are 3 rambucous boys, and living with 4 brothers myself, I can very well understand how all this happened! The mother and father would have to be total idiots to think they could stage something like this and the 3 kids not let let the truth come out. I don't believe the parents would have been able to act as devastated as they were if it was a hoax.

Being a Mother of 2 children, I know kids can do alot to scare parents. I also know that if my family was doing an interview on TV and my child said he was sick, I would Not wait until the interviewer asked me if I needed to go to the restroom with my child. I would tell them my child needed me and go.

Yes I believe it to be a publicity stunt. Stop giving this family the media attention until the authorities can sort this mess out. If it wasn't a stunt then by all means interview them but until it has been decided get them off the air!!!! If it were truly a stunt then throw the dad in jail until every last cent of the expenses involved are paid back!!!!

kids should be in state custody parents should be charged for false police report and made to pay for expenses of the search for the child. Sickening. It was child abuse for that kid to be vomiting from the stress of being made to lie during interviews.

Beside the fact that this was a hoax as many people with simple natural instincts as well as able to tell the truth from a lie, is that that stupid weather balloon the father is so proud of, was tied loosely to a bush, and taped down, taped! There was a compartment that the child could have gotten into, and that in itself is child endangerment. What if it HAD really happened? I assure you, the family would have been too traumatized to carry on any interview/s.

They need to repay all the travelers whose intinerays got screwed up to find this balloon. Plus they deserve all criminal charges brought against them and the kids should be in foster care for the time being.

Oh, BTW, I wasn't calling "Everyone" a Bozo...That was the conclusion YOU jumped to.
I was merely stating that the facts weren't all in and it may have be too soon for a judgement call.

Some people were trying to instigate removal of the children from the parents WAY early in the network broadcasts and other venues I had seen and I was merely pointing out that a knee jerk reaction is uncalled for.

Some people are too quick to essentially destroy a family. Drastic measures require careful investigation and avoidence of public opinion. I have heard a person say that the lack of a TV in the house is child abuse. Sometimes I wonder if a TV in the house could be child abuse.

I have all the wonderful information appliances many times over.
TV, Radio, Internet can result in information overload.

The reason I mentioned "tongue in cheek" was not to infer that everyone was lacking grey matter. Merely that some hotheads might actually think that my previous post was what I thought should happen to the Heeny's. The REAL intent was the opposite.

Slow down, consider the facts. Don't jump to conclusions. There was enough drama to catch practically the entire country off guard and had emergency services chasing it. Much of the country stopped for the time it was occuring. Then started the speculation.

I stopped really paying attention to it after that and it is a dead issue in my mind.

What should be done to the Heeny's(sp).

I don't know, but what ever the response is it should not be shaped by pubic opinion, rather by rule of Law and the governing Authorities.
