A child's job is just to be that: a child. Why would any parent expect their young child to earn a paycheck? Would you send your 6 year old off to work in a factory or mcdonalds? Then why on earth would you consider it ok to send them off to work anywhere else?
I do believe it's important to instil a strong work ethic in children, but this can be done by chores at home (contributing to the family) and schoolwork. A child's ultimate job is to be a student and prepare themselves for the workforce when they become adults. If a child has a job, they have less time to focus on schoolwork and play. Let's not forget, they are children! Why on earth would anyone want their small child to have the stressors of the workforce? They are not mentally or emotionally prepared to have adult responsibilities. It doesn't matter how well you parent them, they just don't need that stress.
How many screwed up child stars have there been? Do you really want that for your child?
