Its direction has become misguided and is more about being politically correct than it is about teaching anything substantial.

After Henson died Sesame started really pushing liberalism, immorality and just got really wierd. So we got out.

Thank you Sesame Street and Childrens Television Network. Especially "Miss Susan" (Loretta Moore-Long), Miss Susan was my 11th grade English Teacher at Saunders Trade & Tech HS in Yonkers, NY. A Great teacher!

I thank her for bringing some 'class' to our school. She had a vision when Sesame Street first started and just look what happened. (one of the founders and original cast)

My daughters were raised with the show...now ages 17 & 22...both scholarship students...one headed for ?__(TBD) College and the other graduates from LSU in 2010 as an Art Education Teacher.

I am very fortunate to have had such a great teacher with Miss Susan!

I wish her and all at Sesame Street a Happy 40th Birthday!

I was born in 1970, and I remember watching Sesame Street as far back as I can remember.  Even when I turned 10, or 11 yrs, I still loved watching.  My 3 boys (now 14, 12, and 8) have also been raised watching Sesame Street, and have always love watching and learning about the differences of others.  That though we may look different, we all love, hurt and yern.  God bless those that have touched so many lives in these 40 years.  Tell Cookie Monster I miss him.

The foundation of my childhood was built upon Sesame Street. In Nigeria, watching the show after school was the highlight of my day. With great nostalgia,i can vividly recall different songs, pleasant and not so pleasant memories(like when Mr Rogers passed away).Sesame Street made learning fun.It taught me values, empathy and inclusiveness.Unfortunately, the show is not broadcasted on Nigerian TV anymore.I'd want my kids to grow up watching the same thing that made me who i am today.Would it be possible to get the various seasons of past episodes for purchase?

I can't believe the life that has been breathed into colorful fuzzy material. This has really changed the fabric of so many of our lives, our children, their children and so on. The muppets are timeless. Children view the muppets for what they are, colorful and fun. It is the adults that put their spin on what they think their children are hearing. Relax everyone and enjoy these wonderful creatures for who they are and the joy they bring into our children's lives. Thank you Jim Henson and a very happy birthday to Sesame Street and the gang.

I've always loved Sesame Street; even as an adult, I still found it to be a charming show.  My son has been watching it since he was 6 months old.  He's now 4 and still loves the show and considers everyone on it to be his friend.  I also credit his voracious desire to learn and read to the show.

Are people seriously complaining that a children's show is too "politically correct"? It's a freakin' CHILDREN'S show! It SHOULD be politically correct. You want your children weened on "Family Guy" and "South Park"?

I love that it's "politically correct"! As others have said there are to many shows today that kids are watching that are so wrong! We need our children to learn the right things early in life and that's what S.S. is all about! I think S.S. has alot to do with the good in the people today! Thank S.S.!!
