Do you think tooth brushing at preschool is necessary?

According to a recent New York Times story, Massachusetts is the first state to add toothbrush time as a daily requirement for preschool children. Do you think it's a good idea or a little over the top? Cast your vote and share your thoughts.

As long as each child has a toothbrush holder to keep the germs away, I think it's a great idea.

    I think it's a great idea. Children love to learn and what a better way to start this most important lifelong habit!

      My children brush their teeth 2 to 3 times a day at home I don't want them using a toothbrush at school no matter how careful they are.

        Children learn by imitating their parents. Early dental hygene is very important.

            I think the parent's should be allowed to supply a toothbrush, and classes should provide a toothbrushing time, but all students shouldn't be required to brush which at school.

                While I believe that early use of a toothbrush is extremely important the only school based brushing should be informational and demonstrative only. Although I voted "yes" I hope I qualified my vote by saying children learn by imitating their parents. Home routines are much more important at this age than in the school environment. However, if all the children in a pre-school class are introduced to dental hygiene and shown the proper techniques I think this would be very beneficial. As a group children seem to be impressed by this type of action and will comply at home if they haven't before. The germ situation is basically a moot point as children this age are all germs!
